Sovon, Dutch Centre for Field Ornithology
Sovon Dutch Centre for Field Ornithology coordinates the monitoring of wild bird populations in the Netherlands and carries out research on the ecology and demography of bird populations. The results of these censuses and research projects are used for nature conservation and management purposes and for spatial planning.
Sovon operates in close collaboration with governmental bodies, universities and several other organisations. Over 9,000 dedicated amateur bird watchers perform most of the fieldwork for our monitoring projects.
This website gives some general information in Dutch about the organisation of Sovon, our expertise and field of work. It focuses on results of the various surveys and censuses and on publications by Sovon staff. We are still working on an English version. However, some pages have already been translated.
